    History

    The foundation stone of this place was laid by Lt. Gen. (Retd.) J.F.R. Jacob, the then Administrator, U.T. Chandigarh on 30th May 2002. It is connected with the Nature reserve or nature park of 15 acres of the land area known as Patiala-ki-Rao forest through a causeway. The Patiala-ki-Rao forest spreads over 350 acres of land. On 2nd January 2007, H.E. inaugurated the garden.

    Chandigarh Botanical GardenThe Chandigarh Botanical Garden is full of different kinds of plants. This is a place worth setting up for a Botanical garden. It has the flora of the region as well as those exotic and near-extinct species.  The garden is spread over 176 acres of land. It has 15 Botanical Sections. The primary aim of this garden was to research, educate, ex-situ conservation, and increase awareness about floral heritage. There you can find many medicinal plants with other plants. There is a nature park in the garden which is sprayed over 25 acres of land.

    This place has some facilities for the public. Here you can find public toilets and parking spaces, cycle tracks, and pathways. There is also a cafeteria in the garden.
