    This place has a rich history and culture. It is an ancient fort nearly 2,300 years old. Chandraketu has been identified as the capital of ancient Gangaridai. Gangaridis was very powerful in the 1st and 2nd centuries AD, and its capital was Ganga. At that time, it was famous, and muslin cloth was exposed to the West. This place once looked like a mountain. Huge mud forts surround the core of this ancient city. Archeologists said that this fort was built in the Gupta era.

    Chandraketu’s Fort is now under the soil. You can see only a small mound. It is in the middle of the green landscape. The view of this place is amazing. It is also called the ‘Mohenjodaro’ Of Bengal. The pictures of this royal piece of architecture merge perfectly with the surrounding river area and look subtle and elegant. This is why people from different countries come to visit this place. The fort holds a very strong historical and archaeological significance.
