It was built by the British in the 1940s. This house is also known as the Helena Roerich Museum and The last seven years of her life she spent here.

    History

    A beautiful garden beside in crookety houseAfter the death of Nicholas Roerich his wife, the great philosopher Helena Roerich decided to stay in India. The Roerich family believed that they were guided by the Master Morya. She wanted to stay in a tranquil place that’s why she chose that Crookety House built by the british where she could get the natural calm view of the mountain Himalayan along with the mountain Kanchenjunga and continue her work, writing and painting. Helena Roerich spent the last seven years of her life in that Crookety House.

    The house is built at the top of the mountain. The Crookety House or Helena Roerich Museum carries the memories of her and the Roerich family. In the house there are lots of paintings, books , old pictures of Roerich families. The rooms of Helena Roerich bear all her stuff and memories. There are books for the visitors. Outside the Crookety House there is stunning natural scenery of the mountain Himalayan. The house is facing the Kanchenjunga mountain visitors could get the most amazing natural view of the mountain Kanchenjunga from the Crookety House.

    10 am to 7 pm is the opening hour of crookety house and this place remain close on Sunday.

    By Road: The Kalimpong Bus Station is only 2.5 km away from the Crookety House. It will take only 9 minutes approximately to reach the destination.

    By Railway: It is 65.1 km away from the Siliguri Jn Train Station. It will take approximately 2 hours 26 minutes from the station to reach the house. And from the New Jalpaiguri Railway Station the Crookety House  is 68.8 km away . It will take approximately 2 hours 36 minutes from the station to reach the destination.

    By Airport: The Bagdogra Airport is 77 km away from the house , it will take around 2 hour 44 minutes to reach the destination.
