    Devi temple is dedicated to Godless Durga. It is a well-known place in Panipat, Haryana. The temple is very prominent in Panipat city and is located on the banks of a drought pond. For the last 100 years, It is organized by Ramlila, every year during the Navratri festival. All Hindu Gods and Goddess idols are placed here along with a  Yaga Shala in the temple and was built in the 18th century. the temple’s history is about 250 years old.

    It is one of the most attractive places in Haryana. All the festivals are celebrated in the Devi temple. On the massive occasion of Durga Pooja and Navrati, a special puja is organized in the temple. During festivals, the temple is decorated with light and flowers during the Durga puja and Navrati festivals. Devi temple’s spiritual environment gives peace of mind and feeds the soul and heart of the devotees. Actually, it is worth visiting.

    During the 18th Century, Maratha was ruling in the area and the Maratha warrior, named Sadashivrao Bhau came here with his army for war.

He stayed here for almost two months for war which was against Ahmad Shah Abdali, He was very invader and came from Afghanistan. People believed that Sadashivrao had found the Goddess idol on the bank of the pond. And later he decided to build a temple.

    It is said that t when the temple was being built, the Goddess idol was placed from one place to another in the night,  and on the next morning Goddess idol was found at the old place from where it was shifted. After that incident happened, then they decided to build the temple at the same place where the idol was found.
