    Elephant’s Head Point known as Needle’s Point lies at the end of the mountain range beyond Lodwick Point. Resembling elephant’s head, this extended ridge is the most popular tourist spot in Mahabaleshwar that offers stunning views of the Sahyadri mountain range set amidst nature’s extremity, the place gets completely covered with greenery during monsoon, which attracts nature lovers to visit and also appreciate the serene nature bestowing immense charm.

    History

    It is said that Elephant’s head point was discovered in 1830 by Dr. Murray and is situated at a situated elevation of 1290 meters, by the side of Kate’s Point, this point is also popularly called Needle Hole point, is a natural rock formation with a hole in the center.

    This Point is another popular vantage point in Mahabaleshwar, situated next to Kate’s Point. The overhanging cliffs of this point are similar to the head of an elephant and its trunk and Thus the point got its name the Elephant’s Head Point. One can see a natural rock formation with a hole in between, thus giving the name Needle Hole and Kate’s Point, and this Poisisten confused with this Point which is near Lodwick Point. From this point, tourists can also get a view of the Sahyadri mountain range.
