Elliot Park in Kolkata is a popular park among youngsters of Kolkata. Spread across a total area of about 90,000 square feet it is also a famous spot for morning walkers as well as joggers of nearby residential areas. The park has a long jogging strip that stretches over 1 and a half kilometers. Elliot Park is located opposite the ‘Tata Steel Office’, which is also called the Tata Centre near Park Street Crossing on Chowringhee. The land, on which Elliot Park is built, used to be a garbage dump site until a couple of years back and had become an eyesore for the nearby people. The initiative of building a park at this site was primarily taken up by Tata Steel. However, the transformation of the dump site into a green cover was a welcoming change. The Elliot park was maintained by Tata Steel. Now, the administration rights of the place have now been transferred to Kolkata Municipal Corporation and Kolkata Police. It is now a public place open to all. People come here to spend some quality time with their family and friends.
