    Fort William is a historically significant site located in Kolkata, India. It was built in 1696 by the British rulers, particularly the East India Company, for their protection and military purposes. The fort spans over an area of seventy hectares and has six gates for entry. Sir Robert Clive was the founder of the fort. Today, the Indian military uses it as one of its headquarters.

It has six gates to enter: Chowringhee Gate, Plassey Gate, Calcutta Gate, Watergate, St Georges Gate, and Treasury Gate.
