    Attraction

    Gadiara Tourist Spot

A village at the very confluence of the Hooghly and Rupnarayan rivers, ‘Gadiara’ is considered to be an ideal destination to spend weekends and makes a good escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. Residents of nearby Kolkata and Howrah can often visit this place. Gadiara is only 50 km or 31 mi away from Howrah.
In the 18th century, the Britishers built a ‘fort’ at this place to guard the entrance by the river and protect against the river pirates. Although the fort is now in ruins and is only visible at low tides.
Another attraction is Indian food (at a reasonable price) available in the nearby area. Some basic local fast food stalls are situated near the bus stand. A bar is also available there, and it is open from 11 am to 11 pm. Local natural green coconut water is also available near the bank of the river.

    History

    Gadiara Tourist Spot

The convergence of rivers is a natural one. The area is pristine, and much historical information has not been found about this place. Over the years, the area has turned into a tourist place.
However, to guard the entrance by the river against river pirates, Gadiara Fort was built by the British in the 18th century. However, the fort is, unfortunately now, in ruins. It is visible at low tides only. Still, if you are determined enough, you might be able to see the fort as well.

    Inside/Outside Views

The confluence of the Hooghly and the Rupnarayan rivers is the main sight in the town. The rivers are really extremely wide, and the surroundings have a typical countryside atmosphere. The view looks like a mini sea. If you take pictures, you might look like a seashore. The river is naturally peaceful and serene. You can also enjoy river cruises using the country’s wooden boats. However, picnic spots are also available in the tourist complex.
The whole place is a perfect example of serene beauty. Here, you can look up to the boats sailing peacefully. The wind is always there to hug you as well.
