    Gauri Shankar Temple is situated on the Mohalla Kunwar Garh Dudhia Mandir road at the banks of rivers Devha and Khakra of Pilibhit in Uttar Pradesh of India. This temple is dedicated to Shankar, another form of Lord Shiva. It is one of the prominent and unique holy shrines of Pilibhit city. Huge followers come to visit this temple every year. Devotees from this district itself and also from the neighboring districts of the state come to the temple to get the blessings of Lord ShivaThis temple is named as Gauri Shankar Temple because in the body Shivling of the temple the face of Gauri who is the wife of Shiva is seen.

    Gauri Shankar Temple of Pilibhit is a holy religious place of Hindu. Main attraction of this temple is its around 2000 years old Shivalinga. People visit this place mostly for their religious belief. But this place has a calm environment that helps to meditate or concentrate. This is also a good place for spending some peaceful time alone.A fair is organized here every year on the occasion of Shivratri, Raksha Bandhan, and every Monday of Sharavan Mas (June-July month).

    History

    Gauri Shankar Temple is about 250 years old. The operable story about this temple is like that: the forefather of the present Pujari Pandit Har Prasad of this temple once came here with his companions (saints). It was a jungle area at that time. He dreamt at night that Bhagwan Shankar was there. In the morning, he observed a Shankar moorti. A temple was built there gradually and increased day by day. Now, it is a well known temple of Pilibhit.

    Gauri Shankar Temple is a large old temple. But the temple building is not very old. It is a splent, pleasant erection with eye-catching carvings on pillars and walls. It has huge, neat and clean premises. A big and splendid gate welcomes its visitors. Then a stage on the middle of the temple perimeter is seen. This temple has two entrances on the southern and Eastern sides. Hafiz Rahmat Khan built those gates. Inside the main temple an ancient Shivalinga predominates. Without this there are three more Shivalinga sets in the different parts of the temple. Balaji Temple, Ram-Seeta Temple, Laxmi Mata Temple, Shiv-Gauri Temple, and a quite big idol of Nandi Maharaj is in the boundaries of the temple. A dharamshala, which was donated by Dwarika Das Banjara situated along with the temple for taking rest of the visitors.
