    The golden temple is spiritual the most significant shrine and its also known as Harmandir Sahib. Golden temple is the ship people’s temple and its preeminent spiritual site of Sikhism. This temple was completed in 1581 December. The Gurdwara is built around a man-made pool, which was completed by the fourth Sikh Guru in 1577.

    History

    The land which became Amritsar and houses the Harimandir Sahib was chosen by Guru Amar Das and he is the third Guru of the Sikh tradition and it was called Guru Da Chakk. So after he had asked his discipline, Ram Das, to find land to start a new town with a man-made pool which is the Central point. In 1574 Guru Ram Das succeeded  Guru Amar Das and Guru Ram Das founded the town which came to be known as Ramdaspur.

    During the time of Guru Arjan Financed by donations and constructed through voluntary work, Ramdaspur town expanded and this town grew to become the city of Amritsar and the area grew into the temple complex.

    This temple is an open house for all worship people and it has a square plan with four entrances and a circumambulation path around the pool. In this temple, there is a complex which is a collection of buildings around the sanctum and the pool and one of these is Akal Takht which is the chief center of the religious authority of Sikhism. The building includes a clock tower and a free Sikh community-run kitchen that serves a simple vegetarian meal to all visitors without discrimination.

    4:00 am to 11:00 pm is the visiting time of this temple. To avoid rushing you can visit this temple in the morning time.

    By road: By road is the best way to reach this temple. You can hire a car or take a bus to reach this temple directly and that’s very easy way and comfortable also.
