    Gopegarh Heritage and Nature Eco-Tourism Centre is a good place for spending a day with your family and friends Near Midnapore. This place is an ideal place for picnic lovers. The people nearby often come here to spend  their weekend chilling. Here, you will get All sorts of amenities, including water. The ready-made ‘Chulas’ or burning place is an extra advantage. The lovely garden with blooming flowers and the children’s park on a tilla is very much liked by visitors of all ages. Inside the park, the reminiscence of a very old building is said to be the garh (which is a fort) of ‘BIRAT RAJA,’ which is an attraction of this place.
    Gopegarh Heritage Park offers you rooms for stay one or two days amidst the Jungle. At night, you can get an adventure feel, whereas during the day time, you can see various birds and butterflies to dance around.

    This is a heritage tourism site nested in a forest area. The eco park is famous for its natural beauty and greenery. The park is filled with fresh oxygen and has different types of trees as well as animals. The Entry fees are just Rs 10 per person, making it an affordable place. After entering the park, you will see the most beautiful road, which is also the most popular in Midnapore.
    This place is ideal for a picnic. Fresh water supply is available within a few meters. This is a well-decorated park with beautiful gardens and flowers and historical significance (with tales from Mahabharata). This is also a good place for your family outings and picnics. Greenery and a peaceful environment can make you feel lively.

    History

    The main attraction of the Gopegarh Heritage and Nature Eco-Tourism Centre is the old Gopegarh Heritage Building, which is actually a ruin of a palace built by the Gope King. The site of the ruin is situated inside the Eco-park. A board on display is mentioning that the very place has mythological ties (as per the  folklore); it is believed that ‘Gopegarh’ was part of the ‘Kingdom of Virat’ (Virat Rajya) as mentioned in the holy ‘Mahabharata.’ However, the Gopegarh Heritage eco-tourism center was established and opened in 2001. It is a good picnic spot for family gatherings. Nature lovers find it magical to visit this place.

    Inside/Outside Views

    When you enter the eco park, you can see it is full of green trees. Birds are charming. Some friendly animals might also be seen after entering.
    This park was maintained nicely. And, in the winter season, it can be a great place for a picnic with family as well as friends.  One of the important things is that there is also a separate area for the couples.  For kids, there are small playgrounds as well. There is a combination of swings, spinners, slides, climbers, and many sitting benches.

    In one area, there is a beautiful rose garden. The main attraction of this park is the ‘Heritage abandoned building of King Birat.’ However, the picnic area is spacious. It has some cooking facilities too. For a picnic, it’s an ideal place.

    By road: It is situated in Midnapore’s ‘Gopgarh’ area. Gopegarh Heritage and Nature Eco-Tourism Centre Midnapore is well connected with other major cities like Siliguri, Delhi, Ghaziabad, Mumbai, etc. And from Midnapore city, you will get local transport to reach the site.

    By air: The closest airport, ‘Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport’ (which is an international one), is almost 136 kilometers away from this area, which is in Dum Dum, Kolkata. You can visit this place from outside of India. Apart from that, there are airports in Delhi, Mumbai, or Lucknow with direct flights to Kolkata. From the airport, you can easily get local transport to reach the site.

    By train: The closest railway station from Gopegarh Heritage and Nature Eco-Tourism Centre is only 5 km away at the ‘Midnapore Railway Station.’ This station is well connected with major areas of the country. From the station, you will get local transport so that you can reach the site.
