    The Government Buddha Museum is a celebrated visiting place located on Taramandal road of Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh. This museum was established in Gorakhpur on 23 April 1987 to preserve the precious cultural resources of Uttar Pradesh. The Cultural Department established this museum to deliver the knowledge of history, culture and archeology generation to generation. Presently the museum building belongs to the Ramgarh Tal Pariyojna Gorakhpur. This museum building is 6 kilometers from Gorakhpur railway and bus station1 kilometer from circuit house and also 1 kilometer from Taramandal.

    This museum is replete with so much ancient art like selected pieces of sculpture, terracottas, metal images, potteries, miniature paintings and Thanakas. If you have an interest in history and also in art pieces then this place will provide you with a good amount of information and definitely you will enjoy visiting this place.

    Government Buddha Museum

    This museum tells the history of Uttar Pradesh as well as India. Moreover, the garden of the museum premises looks beautiful. You will love the greenery here. 

    The world’s most antique Saraswati idol is placed in the museum.

    Total five galleries are presented in the National Buddha Museum now they are

    5. Jain Gallery 

    The first gallery which is dedicated to Pandit Rahul Sankrityayan holds Buddha and Jain art objects. Here Buddha is shown in Intense, Meditation, Abhay, Tantrika and different postures. In this gallery various events of Buddha’s life are presented from Mathura and Gandhar school. 

    You will find Uma Maheswar, Varanashi, standing Vishnu, eight hundred dancing Ganesha, Saptamatrika and Navgraha in the Archeological Gallery. Besides, animal figures, pots, seals, suka-sarika, dakini (a baby eater) and human figures are preserved from the ancient period. 

    Government Buddha Museum

    Various Dimension Art galleries hold ivory, wooden, metal, crystal and images. Rajasthani, Pahari, and Bindu style miniature paintings, which are presented as a gift from Radha to Krishna and Vibhas Ragini, the story of Panchatantra, Makhanchor Krishna, Mahisahur-Mardini, Rasleela, Thanka, Manju Shree, Devi Chunda, Manushi Buddha are exhibit in the Miniature Art Gallery. In the Jain Gallery, Jain Ayagpatta, Tirthankar Rishabhnath, Parashwanath, Chandraprabh, Ambika, Sarvato-bhadrika are placed.

    By Air: Mahayogi Gorakhnath airport or Gorakhpur airport is the nearest airport to reach the Government Buddha Museum. From the airport, reach the museum by any local transport. 

    By Train: Gorakhpur railway station is the nearest railway station to reach the National Buddha Museum. The Museum is not so far from the railway station. You can cover the distance by any local transport

    By Road : Gorakhpur city is well connected with all the main cities of India. You can reach Gorakhpur bus station by any regular intervals. The Buddha Museum is quite near the bus station. Cover the distance by any local transport.
