    The GunHill Road is the second-highest point in Mussoorie and it’s situated at an altitude of 2024 meters. The scene from the top of this hill is a panoramic view of the snow-clad Himalayan ranges right beside the widespread Doon Valley and a full view of the hill station of Mussoorie which is located 400 ft above the mall road

    History

    At the time the British invaded India, the colonists of the area had gotten fed up with the British Dominance. To fight them, the colonists brought a canon to the top of the hill and fired it at the British and post this event the hill is now part of Woodlawn Cemetery, which started to be known as Gun Hill another story that is associated with the gun hill is that In 1857, the British brought up a canon on the hill and the canon was shot every day at noon to guide the locals to their watches to the time accordingly. The British had brought a large firing gun over to the hill during the sepoy Mutiny and even though the gun was removed in the 70s the name stuck.
