    History

    According to the records, the museum was established in 2001. The aim of establishing this museum was to create awareness of our maritime history. Here, visitors can explore various artifacts, models, equipment, uniforms, weapons, and photographs. All these depict the evolution as well as the development of the ‘Indian Navy’ over the years.
    One good exhibit of this museum is a detailed map of the route taken by Westerners to reach subcontinental coasts. Another exhibit is an oil painting of ‘San Gabriel’, the flagship of ‘Vasco Da Gama’ in which he sailed to ‘Beypore harbor’ in 1498.
    The well-maintained lawn of the museum is bound to draw your attention. It has war memorabilia exhibitions on display. War memorabilia includes huge missiles, mines, radars, depth charges, and guns used in warships. Here you will see the models of warships and anti-aircraft guns that were used by the British. Torpedoes, rocket launchers, and mine sweepers are some of the other museum pieces that you can see here.
    Another important display along with the flags, and rank badges, is the naval regalia a memento presented to the ‘Indian Naval’ offices by their ‘Pakistani counterparts’ during Partition. It carries the beautiful inscription ‘Goodbye and Good Luck’.
    Besides, a brass muzzle-loading cannon was used by the ships before the Eighteenth century. There is an anchor that is more than a century old that will grab your attention easily. The museum is a great source of information and inspiration. The whole area depicts the maritime history of the sub-continent.
