    Indira Point is a village in the Nicobar district at Great Nicobar Island of Andaman and Nicobar Islands in India, and the southernmost point of India’s territory.

    The place is so beautiful, and it takes time to reach it. After you reach there, it will be worth your time.


    Indira point beach viewIt is one of the attractions of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Tourists from many places come to visit it. It takes a lot of time as well as effort, to reach the place, but when you reach the top, you will realize that all that’s worth it. Besides, there is a lighthouse near the place, Actually, it looks beautiful to look around, on the top of Indira, you can see also the Bay of Bengal. There are also many things to see.


    Indira point photoActually, this place got the name Indira Point, after Indira Gandhi visited the place during her tenure as the Prime Minister of India. And when Rajiv Gandhi visited this place he named it Indira Point, however, that’s why the place got the name ‘Indira Point’.

    Indira Point was formerly known as Pygmalion Point and Parsons Point. On February 19, 1984, Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi visited this place, a local MP suggested changing the name of this place to her name. The official renaming ceremony happened on 10 October 1985 after the death of Mrs. Gandhi.

    The whole view of this place is amazing. The Bay of Bengal looks peaceful, at the top of the point. There is a lighthouse in this place, it looks stunning. It takes some time to reach the point but you have a great view.

    It will finally be worth it when you reach the point and stand at the southernmost tip of India staring at the Andaman Sea. If you are planning to watch this, I will definitely recommend you to visit it.
