    Day by day the invention of science is amusing us and without technology, we cannot imagine a day. Today we are going to introduce a science center that will brush up on your and your children’s science and technology knowledge.

    The planetarium is a science center situated in Atilagaon of Jorhat, Assam.

    Attraction

    The planetarium became one of the main tourist attractions in Assam. People who love science are mostly attracted by the center. The planetarium is a magnificent place for children because here they can explore more about science and technology and uprich their knowledge. Besides, there is a park for children to have fun.

    History

    The planetarium was inaugurated by Shri Tarun Gogoi, Honourable Chief Minister of Assam and Smt. Chandresh Kumari Katoch, Honourable Minister of culture, executive of India on 6th July 2013. It was developed by the India National Council of Science Museums, the Ministry of Culture, and the Government of India.

    The total area of the planetarium is around 1300 square meters. Inside the planetarium, there is a thematic gallery on the story of oil as upper Assam is well for oil and tea. Along with there is a gallery on amusing technology on overall principles of technology, a completely automated planetarium, and a know-how park. The oil gallery showcases the history of this area in petroleum exploration, drilling, and dispensing. In the know-how park visitors take part to interact, discover and experience lots of stuff of technology. The virtual planetariums of the planetarium are the big dome-shaped projection display screen into which the screen of stars, planets, and other celestial gadgets can be moved realistically to simulate the complicated motion of the heavens. Also, there is an amazing park inside the planetarium which is filled with flowers, plants, etc. At the entrance, there are eight statues of heroic persons with their historical deeds. The planetarium sits just after the park. The main science center is one-storied where the ground consists of all science-related and the first floor are for kids. The science is very much neat and clean it is well maintained by the authority.

    By Road: The planetarium is only 1.3 km away from Jorhat city. Visitors will get a bus, car, or cab easily to reach the destination. It will take approximately 3 minutes to reach the science center.

    By Railway: Jorhat Town is the nearest railway station to the Jorhat science center and planetarium. The center is 2 km away from the station. It will take approximately 8 minutes to reach the science center by taxi or cab.

    By Airport: The nearest airport to the Jorhat science center and planetarium is the Jorhat Airport which is 5.8 km away from the center. It will take around 14 minutes to reach the center from the airport.
