    Kalimpong Science Centre has a 3D movie theatre, a science Observatory, and a few scientific objects for display. Various science live working models and examples of science are beautifully presented here. Children get the necessary information on the multiple purposes of science. The lives and works of famous scientists are also displayed here. This center will give you an educational adventure if you are a student.

    Kalimpong Science Centre

    History

    They developed the Kalimpong Science Centre in Kalimpong, a town in West Bengal near Deolo Hill, in 2008. It is one of the most excellent places to visit in Kalimpong. It is designed and maintained by the National Council of Science Museums (Ministry of Culture, Government of India). It is a knowledge-based place covering an area of 7 acres. The center’s primary purpose is to develop a highly dedicated scientific temper in society and spread scientific knowledge among students and the general public.

    Kalimpong Science Centre has a garden with various outdoor activities like climbing ropes, swimming, and see-saws, with models of dinosaurs. It inspires young minds and makes them able to foster a passion for technology. It ensures immense joy to all visitors, particularly children. You can also get a vivid picture of Mt. Kanchenjunga from the garden.

    How to Reach

    By Road: The distance between Kalimpong Bus Station and Kalimpong Science Centre is about 9km. One can easily reach Kalimpong Science Centre from this bus station by taking a Cab or any local transport. 

    By Train: The nearest railway station is New Jalpaiguri Railway Station. It is well connected with the rest of India. It took about 3 hours to reach Kalimpong science center from the station. 

    By air: Kalimpong doesn’t have an airport. Bagdogra International Airport is the nearest airport to Kalimpong. You can easily reach this place by taking any local transport from the bus station. 

    Tips for Travellers

    Kalimpong Science Centre remains closed every Monday. The best times to visit Kalimpong Science Centre are from March to May and September to November. You must carry Identification Proof, a Camera, a Water bottle, and Medicine. It would help if you followed the guard’s instructions to increase your knowledge.
