Dedicated to the Hindu ‘Goddess of Desire,’ the Kamakhya Mandir (Temple) is situated in the northeastern part of Pithoragarh. The Temple is encircled by several peaks that eventually become ‘sun-kissed.’ It is one of the most pious places for many Hindu devotees. However, Madan Sharma and his family built the Temple of Kamakhya Devi.
Revered as a holy place, the ‘Kamakhya Devi Temple’ is thronged by many devotees for seeking ‘marital bliss,’ ‘fearless disposition,’ ‘freedom from financial problems,’ ‘removal of physical ailments,’ and even the ‘cure for mental problems.’

    Attraction

Kamakhya Mandir is one of the holiest locations in Pithoragarh, which is surrounded by numerous ‘sun-kissed’ peaks. The sun-kissed golden aura takes its beauty to another level. Madan Sharma, along with his family, constructed the temple of Kamakhya Devi, which later became a revered location for many Hindu pilgrims.
Many devotees throng the Kamakhya Devi Temple to seek mental peace. Some seek ‘marital bliss,’ ‘fearless disposition,’ ‘removal of physical ailments,’ and ‘cure for mental problems.’ Some even seek an escape from financial difficulty in this temple. It is said that people going to this temple get their wishes fulfilled by the grace of Kamakhya Devi.

    History

The temple Kamakhya Mandir was founded in 1972 by the efforts of Shri Madan Mohan Sharma and his family. Also, in the same year, he brought a six-headed Maa Kamakhya idol from Jaipur and set it here. “Till this day, the Sharma family actively maintains the structure.”However, the main temple of ‘Kamakhya Devi‘ is in Assam, a famous one in Guwahati. Still, an intriguing fact about this temple is that it is the only temple of Maa Kamakhya in the entire Uttarakhand. That means there is no other Kamakhya mandir in Uttrakhand. Furthermore, the temple eventually had idols such as Shiva, Batukdev, Bhairav, Hanuman, and Laxminarayan.
With the help of the local people, the temple has been transformed into a stunning place. People strongly believe that wishes made in the temple come true when you visit this temple.

    Inside/Outside Views

With its beautiful location, peaceful atmosphere, and incredible views, the Kamakhya Mandir is one of the pious places in the city. The temple is well-maintained and a must-visit place for many religious people. However, we recommend visiting this temple even if you are not religious-minded.
The view of this temple has the sacred ability to bring peace to one’s mind. The best time to visit here is in the evening when the sun spreads its golden light all over the mountains. At exactly that time, the temple looks highly peaceful with a scenic view. It is because a few sun-kissed peaks encircle the temple. No picture can do justice to the scenic beauty.

The Back side of the Mandir has a few more beautiful hills with exotic views. They are easily approachable, and we suggest you enjoy them and spend more time here. The elevation is almost 1620 meters from mean sea level, and as it has a few approachable viewpoints, you can see a part of Pithoragarh out there. No matter how many times you visit this temple, we bet it will sooth you differently each time.
