    It is believed that the name Kanthanpara comes from the local Malayalam language, where “Kanthan” refers to a “ hill or mountain” and “Para” means “rock or stone”. Thus the meaning suggests a natural setting of hills and rocks, which is characteristic of the area.

The drive usually takes around 2.5 to 3 hours, depending on road conditions. From Wayanad, you can hire a taxi or local transport to reach Kanthanpara Waterfalls.

    By Train: The nearest railway station is Kozhikode Railway Station which is about 85 km away from the waterfalls. From the station, you can hire a taxi or a private car to reach Kanthanpara Waterfalls in about 2.5 to 3 hours. 

    By Road: Wayanad is well connected by road. From here you can use various route services to reach several cities in India.
