The temple, perched atop Kronch Parvat, honors Lord Kartik, Lord Muruga, or Lord Murugan in some regions of India for his unwavering love and commitment to his parents. Though this temple is associated with numerous tales, the most well-known one is when the two sons of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, Lord Kartik, and Lord Ganesha, were required to make seven circumnavigations of the universe. While Lord Ganesha took rounds of his parents, referring to them as his universe, Lord Kartik embarked on the trip and took seven rounds of the cosmos. Lord Kartik was furious upon his return and discovered that Lord Ganesha had accomplished the assignment and gained the respect of Lord Shiva. According to the Puranas, a furious Lord Kartik traveled from his parents’ home in Kailash to Kronch Parvat.
