    Lakshman Jhula is one of the famous bridges in Rishikesh and this bridge is across the river Ganges, located 5 kilometers northeast of the city of Rishikesh in the Indian state of Uttarakhand. This bridge is the iconic landmark of Rishikesh and a large bridge 2 kilometers downstream from Lakshman Jhula is Ram Jhula

    History

    Legends said that the Hindu deity Lakshman crossed the Ganges on the jute ropes where the bridge is built. This jhula was completed in 1929.  On November 5th,2020 this bridge is restricted to pedestrian access and is set to be closed permanently when a replacement bridge is built parallel to it.

    This jhula is a suspension bridge about 450 ft long and the entire Bridge is made of iron and situated at a height of 70 ft from the river. This jhula is one of the most prominent landmarks in Rishikesh. This jhula, It’s beautiful tourists find it a thrilling experience to cross the lazily swimming bridge that gives a pictorial overview of the surrounding landscape. You can enjoy the view of the Ganga river standing over this bridge.
