    History

    Leisure Valley is a series of parks and gardens that starts from Rajendra Park in Sector 1 and ends at the southernmost edge of Chandigarh in Sector 53. It was Le Corbusier who designed the city with the aim to convert Chandigarh into a city or garden. It was Le Corbusier’s idea to create such beautiful places where people can enjoy their free time and can breathe in the fresh air.

The most popular ones include the Rajendra Park, Rose Garden, Topiary Park, Terrace Garden, Fitness trails, Shanti Kunj, Botanical Gardens, Hibiscus Garden, and Smriti Upvan. All those gardens have their own charm, beauty, and ability to attract tourists worldwide. The valley starts from Rajendra Park which is generally a place for walks, meditation,  yoga, and exercise. This extends to the Bougainvillea Garden. Leisure Valley also includes the magnificent Rose Garden that is located in Sector 16. This Leisure Valley undergoes a curved turn. This is the only valley in India to set up various kinds of theme gardens.
