    Lodwick Point is situated on the outskirts of Mahabaleshwar and it gets its name from General Peter Lodwick, who was the first British man to visit the area. Standing at about 4000 ft above sea level, this Point offers unmatched views of the Pratapgad fort.

    History

    Lodwick point

    In 1824 General Lodwick was the first British officer to climb the hill. The time of sunset made for some serious drama in the sky and The Lodwick Point afforded great views of the Western Ghats.

    Inside/Outside Views

    This Point area has 2 points; Lodwick Point and Elephant’s Head Point. This point was rechristened in the honor of General Lodwick, who was the first British officer to climb the hill in April 1824, and to honor General Lodwick’s achievement, his son erected a memorial pole of about 25 ft. At the base of this monument, the head of the General is sculptured in marble. This beautiful point offers unmatched views of the Pratapgad Fort and Elphinstone Point at a distance.
