In the 10th century, the temple was Built by the Mypadi rulers. It was renovated in its present form in the 15th century. It was originally a shiva temple. Later, a woman named Madru from the local Tulu Moger community discovered an idol (Which
    Is not made by humans) a shiva linga. The Ganpati picture was drawn by a boy, and day by day, it became fat. So the boy named it as Ganpati. People said that Tipu Sultan wanted to demolish the temple during his invasion of Kerala. But after drinking some water from the
    Walls of this Temple, he changed his mind. The temple’s architecture is gaja prishta types. One can find wooden carvings depicting scenes from the Ramayana.
