History

Maha Maya Devi Mandir is a little history behind this place. According to the people, it is more than 400 years old. During the 17 th century, this Temple was built by Jalim Giri baba, and his family. They belong to the Goswami Family of ths village. He said to everyone that he has seen maa durga in his dreams and she commanded him to build a Temple here. In 1997, the gram panchayat took the responsibility of this Temple from the descendants of the Goswami family.

The Temple is amazing. It has a big premises,where all the occasions are held and the devotees are gathered to pray and seek blessings. The prayers and the puja are organized on fixed timing. The management of this Temple is quite good.

On the premises of the Temple, there is a banyan tree, where more than 130 people were hanged in 1857 during the Indian Rebellion.

It has a very long nine days’ occasion.
