    Maharaja N N Park is one of Cooch Behar’s oldest parks in West Bengal, India. The complete form of Maharaja N N Park is Narendra Narayan Park. It is a botanical Garden. The park has historical value and is more well-known as N N Park. In 1892, Maharaja Nripendra Narayan created it and gave it his father’s name, Shri Narendra Narayan. The park covers an area of 5.7 hectares, including a water body of 1 hectare. The park at present attracts many visitors. The forest department of West Bengal maintains it. In 2013, in February, a statue of Maharaja Nripendra Narayan, the park’s founder, was unveiled on their 150th birthday. It contains natural beauty and lots of fun activities, especially for kids. It’s also an excellent place for botanical studies. It is full of greenery and beauty. As a travel lover, you are going to love this place.

    Attraction

    Stroll through the park’s botanical garden and marvel at the beautiful green-hued trees and flora that adorn the area. It’s a perfect place to relax and enjoy nature. Palm, Debdaru, Kaamini, Bakul, Hijal, Kadam, Haritaki, Segun, Bougainvillaea, and Nagalingam trees are among the tallest in this area. Hindus revere this tree as a sacred one. The additional highlights of N N Park are topiary elephants, dogs, peacocks, and other creatures. Maharaja Nripendra Narayan’s statue is situated amidst the vegetation. Then, a historic royal seat, which was transported from London for Nripendra Narayan, should be noticed. During their excursions to the park, it is reported that the monarch and his queen used to sit there. It’s a great spot to spend time with kids and allow them to interact with nature because many enjoyable activities are nearby, such as swings, a trampoline, a toy railway, and more. The toy train is appropriate for all ages. The newest addition is zorbing in the water.

    History

    This park has a little history behind it. Shri Nripendra Narayan, the erstwhile ruler of the princely state of Cooch Behar, created the park. The park has historical value and is more well-known as N N Park. In 1892, Maharaja Nripendra Narayan created it and gave it his father’s name, Shri Narendra Narayan, the former head of the princely kingdom of Cooch Behar. On Maharaja Nripendra Narayan’s 150th birthday, a statue of him was unbilled. Now it is considered to be the oldest park in Cooch Behar.

    The view of the park is enchanting. The park is attractive to nature lovers and full of trees, flowers, and gardens. Inside the park, there are lots of playgrounds and activities for kids. The toy train is one of them. There are some minor roads inside the park so that disabled people can also enjoy the view of going there by wheelchair. A boating facility is also available here. There are also some selfie zones where the visitors take selfies.     By Bus: The city of Cooch Behar has excellent road service. The roads of this city are well constructed. You will have no hustle to reach this city by road. Regular bus services from the neighboring towns are available all the time. After reaching the bus stand you will find any local transport to reach your destination.
