History

It is one of the leading botanical gardens in Kerala. This garden is the member of the Botanic Gardens Conservation International. It is home to 400 Indian aquatic plants and has the largest collection of plants in Kerala. In 1991, this Institute started as. Govt. Botanical garden. Then 1996, it was ungraded as a Malabar Botanical Garden. In 2005, this Institute became a research Institute under the Kerala State Council for Science, technology, and Environment.
