    Marottichal Waterfalls is located in Puthoor Panchayat in the Thrissur district of Kerala, India.  This waterfall is situated in one of the most beautiful villages, Marottichal. Marottichal is about 20 km away from Thrissur city. This waterfall is a perfect scenic destination for tourists. This waterfall is full of natural beauty, lush green, and cascading Waterfalls.     History

    Marottichal Waterfalls and Forest Wildlife Sanctuary is a famous tourist spot for swimming and enjoying the refreshing waters.  There are two well-known waterfalls in the area; one is Olakkayam Waterfalls, and the other is Ilanjippara Waterfalls. Ilanjippara waterfalls which is around 4 km away from Marottichal. In the summer season, the herd of elephants comes down to the Ilanjilplara waterfall.  Olakkayam waterfall is now restricted and closed to visitors.
    The waterfall is separated from the reserve forest with an electronic fence which works on solar energy. The Forest Department has posted a security guard for morning surveillance.
    The region is surrounded by lush greenery, rich biodiversity, and local culture. The name “ Marottichal” is derived from the local dialect, and “Marotti” refers to the tree species in the area.
