    Maya Devi temple is a famous temple in Haridwar and this temple is dedicated to Goddess Maya. Goddess Maya is an incarnation of Goddess Shakti and its Adhisthatri of this city and also this temple is one among the three prominent Siddha Peetha. Its believed that the goddess of the Siddha Peethas fulfills the desires of her sincere devotees.

    History

    Mata Devi Temple

    Haridwar was called Mayapuri named after the city’s guardian deity, Goddess Maya according to history. The Bhairav and the Narayansila temple are among the other two undamaged temples of the same era of the eleventh century.

    Sati was an incarnation of Goddess Adishakti born as a blessing to Parajapti Daksha and Queen Prasuti and Goddess Shakti took birth as a human to reunite with her consort Lord Shiva.

    According to history, Satis’s body was into 52 parts which fell into this earth. So places, where the Goddess’s remains fell, are called Shakti peethas and the Maya Devi temple is one of them.

    In this temple, the inner shrine of the temple consists of the idols of the three forms of goddess shakti and goddess Maya commands attention in the center with Kali Mata on her left and Kamakhya on her right.
