    Attraction

Morni is a village and tourist attraction in the Morni Hills in Panchkula District, Haryana State, India. It is located approximately 45 kilometers (28 miles) from Chandigarh, 35 km from the town of Panchkula, and is known for its Himalayan views, flora, and lakes. Morni’s name is believed to come from a queen who once ruled the area. The Morni Hills are branches of the Shivalik Range of the Himalayas, which stretch in two parallel chains. The village of Morni is perched on the side of the mountain 1,220 meters (4,000 feet) above sea level.

Between the foothills are two lakes, the larger of which is about 550 meters long and 460 meters wide and the smaller about 365 meters (1,198 feet) in either direction. A hill separates the two lakes, but it is suspected that there is a hidden channel connecting them as the water levels of the two lakes remain roughly the same. The Morni natives consider the lakes sacred.
