     Mukteshvara Temple also known as Mukteswara Temple is the Hindu temple that bows down in the worship of Lord Shiva, just as beautiful and important as other temples of Bhubaneswar. This temple belongs to the Somavamshi Dynasty and is believed to be sculpted by Yayati I, built in the 10th century. For its architecture, Mukteshvara Temple also arisen as a popular religious tourist attraction in Odisha which symbolizes the innovation in the Kalinga style of architecture.

The statues are more well-proportionate and smaller in size. The entrance or the Jagamohana merges seamlessly with the sanctuary Sanctorum. The pictures of Lakulisa can be seen, the saint who propagated the Pashupati sect of Shaivism in the state, during the 6th century AD. On the outer walls of the temple, one can also see depictions of pale solitary or ascetics in meditative poses. A woman writing a letter is depicted in one interesting carving. The carving provides an insight that women did have a standing in society during those days, Though inoffensive.
