    Echo Point situated in Munnar is a popular tourist destination that has a picturesque view of the ‘Nilgiri Hills’. It is on the banks of a serene lake. Consequently, the lake view offers a panoramic view of the surrounding areas. The hills that are covered in evergreen forests make it a paradise for visitors.

    The echo point is a meeting place of the following 3 mountain ranges: Mudrapuzha, Nallathanni, and Kundala.  Here, you can walk around the gentle slopes and at the same time explore the surrounding tea plantations areas. There are spice gardens as well. Besides, the lake allows you to hop on a boat.  On a tiring day, you can just sit by the lake watching the birds on their own. It’s heaven for nature lovers, adventure enthusiasts, and photographers.

    This place is attractive as many other tourist attractions are located close to Echo Point. As a result, it becomes a must-visit place during your trip to Munnar. For nature lovers, Munnar Echo Point is an absolute heaven. It is the home to many native birds. The misty terrains, serene lake, and views of blue-green mountains entice photographers to capture the breathtaking scenery in their lens. Another attraction is the ‘Neelakurinji flowers’, which bloom only once in 12 years.
    Moreover, numerous boats are parked at the bank of the lake that can take you to a riding or kayaking. And (depending on the availability), you can ride a paddle boat or even a traditional ‘rowboat’ in the clear green water of the lake.

However, this place is a pristine one and does not carry a historical legacy. The earliest visitors to Munnar were the Britishers. They used the town and its environs as a summer retreat from the heat of the lowland areas. This place is comparatively cool.

Various other treks are also organized on trails (along the banks or the slopes) of surrounding hill areas. Echo Point has some small shops that sell local items produced in Munnar. You will also find masala tea at some shops and fresh fruit stalls in the nearby area of this scenic tourist point.

    Echo Point Munnar entry fee is

    ₹30 for adults and

    ₹15 for kids.

    Note: The charges for boating are additional and vary from boat to boat.

    Other than that, you don’t have to pay any charge for clicking photos or recording videos.

    How to Reach

    By road: It is situated in Idukki’s ‘Kannan Devan Hills’ area. From the busy area of Idukki, Munnar Echo Point is 40 to 50 km away. Kerala is well connected with other major cities like Kolkata, Midnapore, Chennai, Siliguri, Delhi, Ghaziabad, Mumbai etc. of the country. From Idukki city, you will get local transport to reach the site.

    By air: The closest airport, ‘Cochin International Airport’ (which is an international one), is almost 119 kilometers away from this area which is in Nedumbassery, Kochi, Kerala, 683111. You can visit this place from outside of India. It is also well connected with major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, or Lucknow with direct flights. From the airport, you can easily get local transport to reach the site.

    By train: The closest railway station from Munnar Echo Point is around 120 km away at the ‘Angamaly Railway Station’. This station is well connected with major areas of the country. From the station, you will get local transport so that you can reach the site.
