    Murguma Dam is located in Begun Koder village panchayat of Jhalda block. The distance is about 55 kg from Purulia. It is being built close to the Murguma hamlet Purulia district, at the base of Ajodhya hills. It is a deep dam. The dam is surrounded by hills, forests, and a number of islands. Various types of plants and wildlife are found here with their natural beauty. It is known for its scenic beauty and recreational activities. The exhilaration of the waters of this stream will mesmerize. When the mellow light of the sun in the sky falls on this reservoir, the scene becomes a sight.

    Murguma Dam

    Murguma Village: Murguma Village is known for its terracotta and pottery, a handicraft that is made by skilled artisans using traditional techniques. During festival time, the ancient art, handicrafts, and hand painting by the tribals on the mud walls.

    Suicide point: A chasm suddenly sank into the hill of shal, teak, and Rahul surrounding alone. Reservoirs on three sides and occasional island-like expanses of green. Wind speed is strong here. There is a cloud breaking in danger. Accidents can happen at any moment. Hence, the mane is the suicide point. Naming has nothing to do with suicide.

    Temple: Deulghat temple is near the Murguma Dam. The temple is decorated with wonderful architecture, which represents the ancient empire.  There are many local temples beside this area.

    Cuisine: It is a tribal area. The people of  Murguma are very hospitable. They made their traditional sweets like Sandesh and Roshogolla, which are famous cuisines.

    Murguma Dam is built on the Saharajhore River, one of the tributaries of the Kangsabati River in West Bengal, India. The area is inhabited by tribal people, mainly Santal people. Their economy is mainly dependent on agriculture. The government is promoting this place as a tourist destination. In addition, it is a captivating dam surrounded by rolling hills, boating, and fishing. It is a place where you can enjoy the beautiful sunrise and sunset.  In the evening, this place is amidst natural beauty and cool winds. In the wintertime,  various migrant birds are visited here. The Dam provides stunning views of the lake and surrounding nature.

    By Air: Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport is the nearest airport to Purulia. It is almost 250 km from Purulia. From here,  you will take a bus or train to Purulia.

    By Train: The closest railway station is Jhalda. It is about 25 km from Murguma. From Jhalda, you can take a taxi or other means of transport to reach Murguma.

    By Bus: Durgapur is the closest bus stop in Murguma. It is approximately 20- 30 km from Murguma. From Durgapur, you can easily reach Murguma.
