    History

Netidhopani Watchtower is another watchtower among the others and is related to the notion of the love story of Behula and Lakhindar. Myth has it that Behula while accompanying her husband Lakhindar who died of a snake bite on their wedding night and was on his last journey on the boat, passed the bank of what is now called Netidhopani. A woman named Neta (Netidhopani) was washing clothes and a child was continually disturbing her. She became annoyed and sprinkled some water on the boy. The boy became lifeless. After finishing her laundry, she again sprinkled some water on him and chanted some mantras to bring the dead boy back to life. Behula decided instantly that this was the only individual who could bring her dead husband back to life. She rowed the boat to the bank and asked her to teach her the verses. Behula reached heaven from this bank by taking help from her and became successful in bringing life to her beloved Lakhindar.
