    In the Indian state of Telangana, Nizamabad, Nizamabad fort is a fort that is also renowned as Quilla. In the 10th century, it was built by Rashtrakuta Kings. In the southwest of the city, it is located, from Gandhi Chowk which is at a distance of 2 kilometers.

    Attraction

    Surrounded by masonry walls, the fort has a large area, which has huge bastions at the corners resembling Muslim architecture. Inside the walls of the fort, there is a huge compound that houses a mosque, and a school, and also there is a jail on the way up to the fort, which was used by the Asaf Jahi dynasty. As visitors go up, Visitors can get a view of the entire city of Nizamabad and a flash of the scenery around. On the top, a temple is also seated there. On the rear side of the temple, there is a small dargah on the top of the fort. To celebrate the Urs festival, Sunni Muslim devotees used to visit the place on a yearly basis. However, there have been no visitors in recent years and due to the harsh atmosphere, the tombs are damaged.

    On top of the fort, the Jagannath Temple is seated which is also known as Qilla Ramalayam or Raghunath Temple, and is a tourist attraction and religious place for Hindu devotees.

    By the Rashtrakuta Kings in around the 10th century, the fort is said to have been built.  By Kakatiyas, later it was occupied, renovated, and ruled. Alauddin Khalji, the fort that was occupied in 1311, reigned from 1296 to 1316 and was the second ruler of the Khalji dynasty later Musunuri Nayaks captured it, revolted against Delhi Sultanates, and eliminated them from Telugu land. Who then renovated the fort was none other than the Nizams of Hyderabad, Qutub Shahis, and then the Asaf Jahis.

Spread over an area of 3,900 sq. ft, the temple has spacious halls. There has a unique system of ventilation in the halls that keep it cool always. Every day which used to be lit, the place has a 53-feet high pillar. It is thought that the surrounding villagers used to light lamps at their homes, after seeing this lamp.

    BY AIR: To other major cities of the country, Nizamabad is not well connected via regular flights. At a distance of 140 km, the nearest airport is Begumpet airport in Hyderabad. From the airport, you can hire a cab or taxi to the palace.

    BY TRAIN: Like Mumbai, Chennai, Delhi, Kochi, Visakhapatnam, Bengaluru, and Kolkata, Nizamabad is well connected with all major cities of India through the railway. From other major cities of the country, you can easily get regular trains to Nizamabad. The nearest railway station is the Nizamabad railway station.

    BY ROAD: From the bus stand, regular services of state roadways and privately owned buses of the city are available  With important cities and states, roads are also well connected. To reach your desired destination, you can also hire rented cars or taxis.
