Orccha Fort is one of the famous places in Orchha which houses a large number of ancient monuments consisting of temples, fort, and, palaces. I a located in Orchha town in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. This town is approximately 80 kilometers away from Tikamgarh town. Orccha Fort was built by the Bundela Rajputs starting in the early 16th century by Ting Rudra Pratap Singh.

History

In 1510 this fort was built by RudraPratapb Singh. The temples and palaces of the fort complex were built over some time by Maharajas of the Orchha state. Even the Raja mandir was built by Madhukar Shah who ruled from 1554 to 1591. The features of the fort complex inspired Lutyens in the architecture of the structures and he built these in New Delhi.

This fort is one of the most beautiful forts in Orchha which I accessed from an arched causeway. It leads to a large gateway followed by a large quadrangular open space. It is surrounded by palaces like the Raja Mandir, Jahangir Mahal temple, Sheesh Mahal, and gardens. Notable architectural features are seen in the fort complex and the walls have battlements that have ornaments.

By train: There is no direct railway connection to reach Orchha. Janshi station is the nearby station which is 18 km away from the same. So after reach janshi you can take a auto rickshaw to reach orchha and then you destination.
