     In Hanamkonda and Warangal, Telangana, India, Padmakshi Temple is one of the oldest temples with Goddess Padmakshi which is the main deity built by Kakatiya Kings in the 12th century. It has a hot and dry climate, as Warangal is located in the semi-arid region of Telangana. In the month of March, summer starts and continues through mid-June. In the month of June, the monsoon arrives and lasts until September. In the month of mid-October, winter starts and lasts until early February.

    Inside view of TempleAll carved from live rock, the images, have been retouched and painted. On a large rocky outcrop, the Kadalalaya Basadi or Padmakshi Temple is built. To celebrate the famous Bathukamma festival and immerse the flowers in the pond at the foot of the Padmakshi hillock, lakhs of women come to this place, once a year.

    History

    Dedicated to Goddess Padmavati, located on a hilltop in the heart of the town of Hanamakonda, Padmakshi Gutta, or Kadalalaya based consists of a Jain temple, which was initially constructed during Kakatiya reign. Previously it was a ‘Basadi’ a Jain temple, till the Kakatiya Kings renovated and established the Goddess Padmakshi. There is a massive Tirthankara Parshvanath image, in the Garbhagriha, with yaksha Dharanendra to the right and the left.

    The impressive four faces of a pillar called the Anaconda pillar are an exceptional and amusing feature of the temple. At the entrance of the temple, a quadrangular column made of black granite stone is there which makes the entry more impressive and exciting.

    By rail: From other major cities of the country, you can easily get regular trains to Warangal. The nearest railway station is Warangal railway station.

    By road: From the bus stand, regular services of state roadways and privately owned buses of the city are available.  With important cities and states, roads are also well connected. To reach your desired destination, you can also hire rented cars or taxis.
