    It is said that this temple was built after a soldier found an idol of Lord Ganesha while bathing in a nearby river. The soldier was a devout follower of Lord Ganesha. It is believed the idol was a sign that he would be safe. The soldier kept the idol with him, and a temple was later built in that place.
