    Peace Pagoda is a symbol of peace. It is a Buddhist Stupa that is designed to unite people all around the world of all races and creeds and most of the Peace Pagodas around the globe were built by the guidance of  Nichidatsu Fujii. The foundation of this Pagoda was on 3rd November 1972 anon on d 1st November 1992 it was inaugurated.

    History

    The Buddha Idol in Peace Pagoda Derjeeling

    The Peace Pagoda was built after the atomic bomb attacks on the Japanese cities Hiroshima and Nagasaki where more than 150,000 people lost their lives. The pagodas carry the symbol of peace and by the year 2000, eight pagodas were built in Europe, Asia, and the United States. The main purpose of those pagodas was to inspire peace among the people and almost all the pagodas were built under the guidance of Buddhist monk Nichidatsu Fujii from Japan.

    In this Pagoda, there are four avatars of Buddha. Just below the pagoda, the Japanese Temple added this pagoda has a height of 28.5 meters (94 feet) and its diameter is 23 meters (75 feet) This pagoda is the tallest free-standing structure in the Darjeeling town. There are two gold-colored lions; made of concrete placed on the lower section on both sides of the stairs and there are also statues of the Buddhas in different postures like sitting, standing, and in meditation. People can walk to the peak of the pagoda where they will get to see the amazing artwork. The outside view from this place  Darjeeling is mind-blowing. There are rows of pine trees around the pagoda and just below the pagoda there is a Japanese temple and visitors can see the natural views of mountains; sometimes snow peaks are visible from the outside of the pagoda.

    By road: From Darjeeling city, the Peace Pagoda Darjeeling is only 1.9 km away. It will take approximately seven minutes to reach the monastery from Darjeeling city by car.

    By railway: The Peace Pagoda Darjeeling is 60.9 km away from the Siliguri Jn Train Station. It will take approximately 2 hours 27 minutes from the station to reach the pagoda. And from the New Jalpaiguri Railway Station, the Peace Pagoda Darjeeling is 68.9 km away. It will take approximately 2 hours 41 minutes from the station to reach the destination.

    By airport: The Bagdogra Airport is 65.7 km away from the pagoda, it will take around 2 hours 32 minutes to reach the destination.
