    Pilibhit Tiger Reserve is located in Pilibhit district and Shahjahanpur of Uttar PradeshThis Tiger Reserve area forms a part of the Terai Arc Landscape in the upper Gangetic Plain Biogeographic Province along the India- Nepal order. Sal forestand tall grassland characterize this habitat, and swamps maintained by periodic flooding from rivers. The Sharda Sagar Dam extending up to a length of 22 km (14 mileis on the boundary of the reserve.

    It is a 730.24 square kilometers forest area, 602.79 square kilometers core area which is restricted for human habitation and 127.45 square kilometers buffer area. Pilibhit Tiger Reserve got the TX2 international award for the first time for making the tiger population double of the reserved area in a stipulated time.

    Attraction

    The main attraction of Pilibhit Tiger Reserve is obviously observing tigers from a nearer distance. This reserved area has at least 65 tigers and five species of deer.

    Not only tiger, you can see leopard cat, barasingha, leopard, fishing cat, barking deer, blackbuck, chital, hog deer, sambar, sloth beer, Indian giant flying squirrel, porcupine, small Indian civet, Indian flying fox, greater short-nosed fruit bat, Indian common yellow bat, painted bat, rhesus macaque, langur, golden jackal, Bengal fox and striped hyena. 

    In this reserved area, 450 residence bird species include the Sarus crane, three hornbill species and six eagle species, gray partridge, black partridge, swamp francolin, darter, lesser whistling duck, combed duck, peafowl, herons red junglefowl, cormorants, egrets. In the winter birds also migrate here. 

    In reptiles, marsh crocodiles, gharial, five lizard species, and several snake species are seen. 

    This is a must-visit place for those who love nature and are interested in wildlife. 

    History

    This protected area used to be a timber yielding reserved forest. Then it was declared as the 46th Tiger Reserve in June 2014. Pilibhit Tiger Reserve is one of India’s 51 Project Tiger Reserves.

    Inside/Outside Views

    This whole reserve area contains different points. The First one is Chuka Beach. Chuka Beach is a beautiful tourist destination situated between Sharda Dam and the canal. A bamboo hut, one tree house, and four Thara huts are picturesque. Jungle Safari is defined as a forest trail.

    You can explore the jungle via jeep. Hardoi branch, Kheri Branch, and Sharda Sea Feeder channel are three canals from Bifurcation. Siphon Canal point is the flowing of the Kharja Canal, which originated from Sharda Sagar Dam, and the Kheri Branch, originating from Bifurcation one above another. Jhand Taal is a pool situated on the Mahof and Barahi range. Sunset Point is a perfect destination for photographers. Sunrise Point is an outstanding place for those who love to gaze at the sky and, no doubt, for photographers. It will be a perfect background and frame for photos. Lal-Pul is a red bridge made during the British period located in Chuka, the main canal of Sharda. On the Python Point, a giant snake python is seen in the autumn. Barasingha Taal is a pond with marshy grass, which is a favorite to reindeer. Because of this, herd reindeer are often seen here. Smooth-Coated Otter Lutrogale Persplcillata is the Otter Point. The water sports of this animal are a great attraction for the tourists of Pilibhit Tiger Reserve. Crocodiles are found abundantly in Crocodile Point of the Pilibhit Tiger Reserve. In the Birding Point of this reserved area, birds like Grenville, Lalkar, Neelkar, Agred, and Kautilya grades come to enjoy winter here. Sapt Sarovar is a seven-step waterfall.     By Air: Lucknow airport is the nearest airport to reach Pilibhit Tiger Reserve. Direct flights from all of the major cities of India are available. Bareilly airport is also convenient to Pilibhit. 

    By Train: Pilibhit Railway Station will be convenient to reach Pilibhit Tiger Reserve by train. From the railway station you will find local transport to reach the forest area. 

    By Road: You can reach Pilibhit Tiger Reserve from Lucknow via Sitapur, Shahjahanpur, Bareilly, and New Delhi via Moradabad, Bareilly Pilibhit. Choose any of them according to your convenience.
