Kalimpong is well known for its immense collection of Cactus. It is situated on Atisha Road in Kalimpong, West Bengal. The distance between Kalimpong Bus Station and Pine View Nursery is about 2.5km. The authority collected about 1500 species of Cactus over four decades, which are on display here. Kalimpong is ready to provide wonder, scenic views, and a serene drive. The sheer number of foreign species makes an outstanding horticulture that can ensure visitors an eye-soothing atmosphere.

Attraction

The main attraction of Pine View Nursery is its well-maintained 1500 species of Cacti with beautiful flowers. It has four tiny greenhouses. Visitors can see all the other greenhouses except one greenhouse with giant cacti planted. It is risky to walk among them. You can’t imagine how horticulture is built in such a place where the temperature hardly reaches 30 degrees Celsius. It has also a small flower garden.

History

1971 Mr. Mohan S Prodhan established this project and left his orchid business. Because of his excessive passion for Cactus, he collected various kinds of Cactus from different countries of the world. After some time, it becomes one of the most popular horticulture in Kalimpong. He built this private commercial nursery in his own home. The nursery has been awarded several national and international awards for planting various kinds of Cactus in a place.

Inside/Outside Views

In a land of 2 acres, you can see a fantastic showcasing of cacti imported from South and North America. It is said to have the most extensive cactus collection in Asia. You can find and learn about 1500 species of cacti here at the moment, and you can also buy them.

20 rupees per person for Indian Nationals & 50 rupees per person for Foreign Nationals. There is no entry fee for children below 5 years old.

By Road: Pine View Nursery is about 2.5 km from Kalimpong Bus Station. You can easily reach this place by taking any local transport from the bus station.

By Train: Kalimpong doesn’t have a railway station. The nearest railway station is Jalpaiguri Station. It is well connected with the rest of India.

By air: The nearest airport to Kalimpong is Bagdogra in Siliguri. This airport offers all major domestic Airlines between Kalimpong and other cities in India.

The best time to visit the Pine View Nursery is October to March. During winter, the temperatures are mild, making it more favorable for the visitors. It would help if you carried enough winter clothes & necessary medicines.
