The Rajarani temple is originally known as Indreswara and because of the erotic carvings of women and couples in the temple it’s locally known as a “love temple”. On a raised platform with two structures, Rajarani Temple is built in the Pancharatha style. The structures were a central shrine called the vimana with a bada over its roof rising to a height of 59 ft, and a Jaganmohan, a viewing hall, with a pyramidal roof. The temple was constructed of yellow sandstone and dull red which was locally called “Rajarani”. Inside the sanctum, there are no images and hence it is not combined with an appointed sect of Hinduism but broadly classified as Saivite based on the niches.
