    There is an interesting history behind this place. It is called Raja’s Seat because the King of Coorg’s used to seat here and enjoy the excellent scenario of the area. The King of Coorg wanted to see the daily sunset and sunrise view and he found this place and constructed a simple structure made of bricks with supporting pillars (4 pillars). The Kings and queens were used to seat here and enjoy the view of sunset and sunrise. This is not a royal structure like other Raj-era structures. But the natural beauty of the place makes it different from the others.

    Raja’s seat opens every day of the week. It opens at 6 am and closes at 8 pm.

    To enter Raja’s seat a visitor needs to pay a little fee. It is RS.5 per person. If you want to ride the toy train there then you need to pay RS.20 ( per person).

    By air: The nearest airport to Raja’s seat is Mangalore international airport. It is 141 km away from the place. It is well connected with the other cities of India. Local transports are easily available at the airport which will take you to the place. 

     

    By rail: The city of Madikeri does not have a railway station. So, you have to go via Subrahmanya Road which is in Mangalore. It is about 85.4 km away from the place. From the station, you can hire any local transport to reach Raja’s Seat.

     

    By Road: The city of Madikeri is well connected with the other cities of the state of Karnataka by road. A good number of buses run on that route. Or, you can hire taxis or cabs to reach your desired place.
