    Muradi Dam is another name for Ramchandrapur Dam. It is situated near Muraddi Village in the Purulia district of West Bengal, India. It was built in 1991, and it was also a part of the project named Ramchandrapur Medium Irrigation project. It is a worldly dam that is 899 meters long. It has a concrete spillway and it has a maximum height of 15 meters above the foundation. Machkhandajore River is used to build the dam, and the authority aimed to use the dam for irrigation purposes. Because of the scenic beauty of the dam, the village turns into a popular tourist destination.

    History

    The dam was constructed in 1991 which is a part of the Ramchandrapur Medium Irrigation Project. It is situated near Muraddi in the Purulia district of West Bengal, India. The length of the dam is 899 meters, and it has a concrete spillway.  The maximum height that we can see is 15 meters above the foundation.  Though it was primarily constructed for irrigation, it has also played a vital role in the local economy.  It works as a reliable water source for farming. It helps to provide water in the surrounding areas as well as support agriculture. Like other dams, it is also located near a river named Machkhandajore River. Absolutely. It’s a place for relaxation.

    By Train: Muradi Railway Station is the closest station to the dam. It is only 8 kilometers away from the dam. From here you can hire a taxi or cab to reach there within short time.

    By Bus: Bihar Sharif Bus stand is the nearest bus stand to the place.  It is located in Nalanda district  and it is almost close to the dam. From here, you can take a taxi or any local transport to reach there.

    • The winter season, from October to June,  is the best time to visit the place. 
    • Carry your necessary papers, passport, water bottles & medicines,  insect repellent & energy drink.
    • Please dress according to the weather.
