    Raza Library is one of the largest libraries in the Asia continent, situated in Rampur, Uttar Pradesh, India. It got its name after Raza Ali Khan Bahadur, the last Nawab of Rampur. The place where it is situated is called Rampur Quilla. On one side of the Rampur Quilla, Raza Library is located, and on the side of Raza Library, Rang Mahal and City Montage School are located. 

    This Library is under the Indian government now, and local administration looks after it. It’s a historical excellence of Rampur. It is familiar all over India and also outside of India. More than 60000 books and 7000 manuscripts are in the Library, along with rare miniature paintings. Visitors from all over the world come to visit this Library because of collecting knowledge about those art pieces. 

    Raza Library is a combination of art, culture, and history. It is not only an event but a series of events. It holds a complete culture in itself. In this library, the world’s most ancient manuscripts are placed, which other libraries also have. But there is also something else without these. A full section of rare miniature photography that doesn’t exist in Europe. And some histories are not in the main place where the history belongs. As Mongolian history. In Raza Library, some manuscripts of Mongolian history are not in Mongolia itself.

    The library contains the Quran, written by Hazrat Ali on camel skin; the Ramayan, written in Farsi, which Goldwater wrote; and the Shrimad Bhagwat Puran, written in the 18th century. Manuscripts and books written in Hindi, Sanskrit, Farsi, Urdu, Arabic, Persian, Turkey, and English are also in the Library. Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Sinhalese, and other language manuscripts written in palm leaves are also in the Library.

    This Library is a treasure house for Indo-Islamic arts and learning, which were collected from different places at different times. If you are interested in Indo-Islamic art and searching for education about it, then you should visit Raza Library because treasures of art lie there.

    History

    About 200 years ago, in the 18th century, when Faizullah Khan was the Nawab of Rampur, his sentiment for literature increased. Then, he built a library and named it Raza Library. After that, ten more Nawabs came to the throne. Each and every one of them was a beautiful test for literature, education, and art. So they worked for the improvement of Raza Library. For their test place like Raza Library, increasing India’s pride in the world. 

    Nawab Raza Ali Khan liked to drive his life in an organized and structured way. Every time he visited Europe, he collected art pieces from there. He participated in the auction. Now that art pieces are beautifying this library. 

    Inside/Outside Views

    The beauty of this library’s building is beyond description. Indo-European architecture increased its beauty. The Raza Library is a symbol of singularity. In the eighth column, you can see the temple, church, mosque, and pagoda’s entrance.

    It was Hamid Khan’s residential house. Nawab Hamid Khan added Italian sculptures and statues of different gods and goddesses related to Greek mythology. Goddess of victory, goddess of the sea, goddess of eternal youth, and beauty statues placed inside the library. 90’s century wallpaper, effect, and gold leaf on the wall make it more unique. In Greek mythology, this art form symbolizes a long and enduring life. It is also seen in the tomb of the library. The stylish motif of the large tomb indicates its long and prosperous life.

    By Air: Pantnagar airport is the nearest airport to Rampur, approximately 62 kilometers away. Mundapandey airstrip is also near Rampur. 

    By Train: Rampur Railway Station is the nearest railway station to the Raza Library. Cover the distance from the railway to the station to Raza Library by any local transport. 

    By Road: Reach Rampur bus station through Moradabad Highway. From the bus station, go to Raza Library by local transport.
