    History

    The Rock Garden of Chandigarh is a garden for rock enthusiasts. This place is also known. Nek Chand Saini’s Rock Garden of Nathupur is after the name of the founder of the garden Nek Chand Saini. He secretly started to build the garden in his spare time in the year of 1957. He would collect waste materials from around the city and use them too. Build structures on forest buffer land. He continued this for around 18 years and spread it over 12 acres. Though this was illegal, he somehow managed to hide this from the authorities until it was discovered by the authorities in the year of 1975.

The sculptures of the garden are also made of recycled ceramic. Here you can see man-made interlinked waterfalls which are also made of waste things like- bottles, glasses, tiles, bangles sinks, ceramic pots, etc. This place is 1 km away. the famous Sukhna lake. The atmosphere of the place is very calm and relaxing. You can spend hours here without getting bored.
