    History

    Rosemala Viewpoint is located at an elevation of around 800 meters above sea level and it provides visitors with a clear view of the nearby forests, Valley, and hills. The name Rosemala is derived from the Malayalam language “Rose” has no meaning and “Mala” means hill or mountain.  So the term could refer to the “ hill of roses”. It reflects the region’s natural beauty.

    It is about 25 km away from Thenmala Ecotourism. The viewpoint is known for its panoramic views of the Western Ghats and surrounding lush greenery making it a popular distinction for trekkers and nature enthusiasts.

    Inside/Outside Views

    Rosemala View PointThe outside view of the Rosemala viewpoint is truly captivating. It offers a scenic and tranquil experience, with a breathtaking view of the surrounding landscape. The view is mesmerising especially during early in the morning or late afternoon, when the mist often rolls in. At the viewpoint, there are small rocks. The rocks are decorated nicely. But be careful the rock can be slippery.

    Next to ticket counters there is a small tea shop and shacks shop. From here you can sip tea seeing the beautiful Mountain view.
    In this viewpoint, many kinds of trees are rare in other places.

    How to Reach

    By Air: Thiruvananthapuram International Airport is the nearest airport to Rosemala viewpoint which is approximately 70 km away from Rosemala. From the airport, you can take a taxi, bus, or other local transportation to reach Kollam. From Kollam, you hire a taxi or other local transportation to Rosemala.  It is about 35 km from Kollam city. From Rosemala you can directly reach the viewpoint by local transport. 

    By Train: Kollam Railway Station (QLN) is the nearest station to the viewpoint which is approximately 35 km. From the station, you can take a taxi or auto rickshaw to reach Rosemala. From Rosemala you can directly reach the viewpoint by local transport. It could take around 1 to 1.5 hours depending on road conditions. 

    By Road: Kollam is well connected by road. Rosemala viewpoint is easily accessible by road from Kerala to Kollam.  From Kollam city, bus services are available to Rosemala. The trip from Kollam to Rosemala will take around 1 to 1.5 hours depending on traffic.
