    Rudraprayag Sangam is a holy site in the Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand, India, where the Alaknanda and Mandakini rivers converge. Being one of the holiest confluences in India, the site is visited by many pilgrims each year. An excellent site to stop over on the route to the Badrinath Highway is Rudraprayag Sangam. Here, two holy rivers converge with a color combination that makes them easy to recognize. The colors of the two rivers are entirely different. Here, the transparent blue Mandakini River from Kedarnath and the filthy Alakananda River from Badrinath unite. An exquisite vista where the Alaknanda and Mandakini rivers converge. “The river forms Alaknanda after it enters.”Travelers must pause and take in the splendor of nature, its spectacular surroundings, and the expansive views of the Himalayas.     History

    When Lord Shiva made an angry appearance at the Alaknanda and Mandakini river confluence in his furious Rudra incarnation, it is said that Narada Muni, who was performing penance at this spot, was blessed by Lord Shiva. Legend has it that the Pandavas traversed this region during their exile and have a connection to the famous Hindu epic, the Mahabharata. Hindus regularly visit the Rudraprayag Sangam because they believe bathing in these sacred waters can provide them with atonement and redemption. Spiritual seekers will find a serene and quiet environment at this site, bordered by stunning mountain ranges.
