    Located at Middle Tsiepfu Tsiepfhe Ward in Kohima, Nagaland, in north-eastern India, Sakhrie Park is an urban park. On 7 April 2016, the park was opened to the public. It was prone to landslides, the area was previously a garbage dump and sinking area.  By a private firm, VAST Group, The project was undertaken which transformed the wasteland into an urban park. Such as a café, a candy store, a children’s park, a conference room, a multipurpose hall, and a parking lot, the park is equipped with numerous facilities.

    Attraction

    In 2016, the Sakhrie Park was inaugurated by Nagaland State MP Neiphiu Rio and it was completely transformed into a recreational park aesthetically which is decorated with succulents and cactuses, flowers, vintage park benches, and play areas for kids too.  Sakhrie park reminds every visitor of the Eden gardens and is located at Kohima- Mokokchung road in Kohima. and many motivational quotes written everywhere will definitely be observed by the visitors. It has a well-maintained man-made fountain which is more attractive to the eye of each and every visitor. There are so many attractions placed here and including a ‘monkey bar’, a ‘Cactus corner’, Cafe Food Prints, a Candy cart, a Teyozwu hall, a kid’s play area, Barbeque, Web, etc. Such as air hockey, table tennis, soccer table, workout station, lockers, first aid, car parking lots, and bicycle parking station, it also provides some sports and fitness activities.

    Sakhrie Park hosted by Kohima was once a garbage disposal area that turned into a refreshing park. It is at a distance of 1. 8 kilometers from the main city Kohima and is located in the A. G. Colony. Offering different recreational activities, meditation, and to have a quiet time, this Sakhire Park was made for the young and old, families, and friends.

    Entrance fee to this park is free and one is needed to pay minimum charges for some sports activities to participate in them.  Availability of advance booking to Sakhire Park is the best for that traveler who comes from far-distant places.

    How to Reach

    By Air: Having frequent flights from all over the country, The state airport is in Dimapur, however mostly via Kolkata.  From Dimapur to Kohima, one needs to cross a journey of approximately 3 hours.

    By Rail: From Khonoma, the nearest railway station is in Dimapur.  One can board a connecting train from Guwahati to Dimapur, as your train might not be directly going to Dimapur. The rest of the country is well connected to Guwahati.

    By Road: Kohima is well-connected to major cities in North-East India, Guwahati, and Shillong.  From Kohima, Guwahati is 352 km, and shillings 414kms. Khonoma is at a distance of  20 km from Kohima
