Sankrail Gangar Dhar is basically a Riverside area, or you can call it the bank of the holy river ‘Ganga.’ It’s not a typical holiday place, nor is it any conventional picnic spot. However, this ghat is a place where you can spend some of your time all alone or with your close ones in the afternoon. The wind will embrace you in no time. Furthermore, the flow of the ‘Great Ganges’ will satisfy you and calm down your mind as well. This ghat is the place where the lost Saraswati river (once it was a key water trade route of Howrah) meets Ganga. The convergence of the two rivers makes it spacious. However, if you are concerned about your safety, just note that there is a police station and railway station nearby.

    Attraction

The beautiful ghat is a place where you can spend your workday as well as holiday evenings. Not an ideal holiday destination nor a perfect picnic spot, Sankrail Gangar Dharit is a place where you can spend some of your time in peace and tranquillity. Here, the Great Ganges flows gracefully with a little wind that is sufficient to calm down your mind. This is the convergence place where the Saraswati River meets the Ganga River. The open area creates space for the wind that embraces you immediately.
You will get some tiffin corners out there. The area is open and space is clean too. People living in the nearby area visit this place almost every day.

    History

The Sankrail Gangar Dhar is a pristine riverside area. Consequently, much historical information has not been found.
However, the ghat is the same place where the moribund ‘Saraswati river’ meets the mighty Ganga. Yet, once upon a time, the Saraswati river was so graceful that it used to be the key water trade route of Howrah.

    Inside/Outside Views

The openness of the bank of the mighty river Ganges is bound to fascinate you. The water gracefully flows down, making a symphony with the charming birds, especially in the morning and evening. You can relax at the ghat during the hot summer evenings. You can also spend quality time in the winter afternoon when fog covers the river with its mist.
The view of sunset beside the Ganga in both Summer and Winter is something spectacular. It is always a suitable place to take a walk or jog. If you are visiting Howrah, we recommend you visit this place.
